The Beat Surrender is an independent online music magazine authored by a community of music fans. Providing a voice for honest and independent content the site also aims to promote 'up and coming' musicians. In addition to the online magazine, The Beat Surrender organises regular gig nights in Leeds.
Kilo75 was appointed to conduct a review of the sites structure and develop some new functionality. The existing website had become a bit unweildy and it was clear that some changes to the Information Architecture would make the content much more accessible. It also was decided to migrate to the open source Drupal content management system.
A refreshed design was developed and we migrated thousands of articles and members over to the new information architecture. We also included version control and workflow, allowing the editor to check and publish articles submitted by multiple contributing authors.
Phase 1 launched at the end of 2010 and more features are planned throughout 2011 and beyond.
